Michael Jordan BB4

Michael Jordan

Summary

Michael Jordan is one of the greatest NBA players to ever play the game. Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, NewYork. His parents always wanted him to study and make the right choices. He played lots of sports specifically baseball, football, track and field, and basketball.  He went to college and played for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. Jordan was not the best at the begging but with a lot of practice he became their best scorer. Jordan decided to drop out of college on his third year to go to the Olympic games where he won many fans. After the Olympics, he was drafted to play with the NBA Chicago Bulls, who were not doing very well.  Jordan rose them up again, winning all titles except the Championship cup. Eventually in his seventh year he achieved his ultimate goal. Jordan was having a good life by playing well, helping people, and being a good husband and father. Jordan was also having an amazing contract with the Bulls, and was getting lost of money. Unfortunately his father was murdered, which lead to Jordan’s retirement from the NBA at the age of 30. Jordan retired for 18 months in which he was playing Baseball although he wasn’t very good. In this time period the NBA, the Bulls, and the fans were not doing well either. That is what made Jordan to come back to his game.  Today he is remembered as Air Jordan, the legend.

The time period is in the 1980s and 1990s in America (Aaseng 27).
The events are taking place during the cold war, when America was playing in the Olympics, but the soviet union did not come because they do not want to compete in America : “Much of the Olympic drama was dampened when the U.S arch rival pulled out” (26).

Reflection

This book is important because it talks about the legend Michael Jordan, who is was the best NBA player ever. I liked how Michael Jordan never gave up on winning the MVP after seven years in the NBA and how he stayed humble and noble even when he was so famous.  I didn’t like how Jordan retired after his dad died, although he came back 18 months later. I would recommend this too my friends who like basketball, because I think they would be as interested in learning about Jordan as I was.
This person is so important to think and talk about because he changed the way of basketball by doing many new tricks, breaking records, and being a good role model to people.  Jordan and I are similar because we both didn’t give up on becoming better in basketball. For example people were saying Jordan couldn’t win a championship, but he did. In the same way when I started playing basketball people were telling me I wasn’t good enough, but I improved. I would give this book a 10/10 because it was always interesting and I never got bored from reading.
